President's Message - November 2011
Dear Model A Friends,
The fund drive total for the Model A Museum
continues to edge upwards. Each donation moves
us closer to the goal of beginning construction in
2012. The old proverb, Many Hands Make Light
Work, is true in fundraising as well as in any group
activity. If every Model A'er gave a donation, we
would reach our goal. Do what you can, and more
than once if you can. Buy an engraved brick and be
remembered forever at the museum. Every dollar
goes into the museum fund.
A narrated DVD entitled, A Stroll through the
Model A Years is being distributed to all local
Model A Clubs. This DVD describes how the
Model A Museum could be arranged to show cars,
fashions and National events of the Model A era.
Look for it and help show it to your local club.
If we begin construction in the spring, we will
have a beautiful building in the fall.
MAFFI
has received generous donations of cars, parts,
literature and accessories over the years. But more
is needed for a complete portrayal of the history
and functioning of Henry's Lady. Throughout
the Model A hobby people have built displays of
Model A parts and how they function. Displays
of carburetors, jacks, distributors, brakes, tools,
fashions and many other collections already exist.
Also, there are probably enough NOS parts tucked
away in various locations to stock the museum's
Parts Department. In many cases, the owners of
these collections have said, "When the museum
is built I will donate this collection". We need to
know what to expect - the things still to be donated,
so that we can make a plan for moving into the new
building and setting it up. Once again, your help
is needed. Trustee Phil Ierardi is heading up the
museum sub-committee which has the big job of
preparing the displays. Please help him out.
Finally, we need a few clever people to step
forward to help build interactive displays. For
example, the museum needs a booth with a Model
A cowl and driver's controls to show vistors all
the steps in starting a Model A and also displays
showing brake action, an ahooga horn, cranking,
changing a tire, and many more. We want the
museum to be a display of technically correct
Model A gear, but also a fun place, and you and
your friends can help.
Sincerely,
Stan Johnson
